Reflections on leadership
by Kevin J Lee, Pathways Chief Ambassador, Past District Director, District 71
In this talk, Kevin will share some of his leadership experiences and the opportunities available within Toastmasters.
Kevin joined a Pre-Charter TM Club while a freshman in Kuala Lumpur in the last century. He foolishly agreed to the VPE role at the first demo-meeting. Having survived this and all his exams, he continued his studies in Glasgow in 2001. He was shocked to find only one fledgling pre-charter club
in this vibrant city. Kevin became a Charter Member and Sergeant-at-Arms of Glasgow Toastmasters in 2002. He was elected Club President in 2003. Glasgow Toastmasters achieved President’s Distinguished status during his tenure.
Kevin is a member of Saffron Walden Speakers in Essex. He was Lt. Gov. Marketing (LGM) in 2013/2014, Lt. Gov. Education and Training (LGET) in 2014/2015 and District 71 Director in 2015/2016. District 71 finished 14th out of 98 Districts worldwide under his leadership. Kevin was excited when Toastmasters International first announced their planned revitalisation of the
Education Program. He began working with Pathways since 2013, formally taking on the role of Chief Ambassador in 2016.
Kevin now focuses on his other two full-time jobs, as an Army General Practitioner and father to Ronan (3), Sean and Cian (both 1). He enjoys good food, fine wine, single malt whisky, international travel and scuba diving in tropical waters only.
